How to prepare lime wash?

Properly protect all parts of your body to avoid serious burns. Thus, in one liter of water, pour 1 kg of hydraulic lime. If you don’t have it on hand, you can use 300 g of quicklime, to which you will add 700 g of whiting for this amount of water.
If you are looking for a satin finish for your coating, you can add linseed oil. For one liter of water, 1/3 of a liter of oil will be sufficient. Then, you need to stir vigorously to avoid lumps that may form.

Additionally, it is possible to add colorants to the lime wash according to your needs. However, it is not necessary to overdose on colorant in the lime wash, as this will lead to defects after application.
How to use lime wash?
Once you have prepared your solution, check that it is not too thick. If it is, add water to achieve the same texture as that of a wall paint.
Before applying the paint, you need to prepare your walls. This means removing all dirt beforehand. You will need a stiff brush to clean them. However, keep in mind that you are not stripping your walls. The lime wash will cover the existing paint if necessary.
Using a brush, apply the lime wash to the walls with a maximum thickness of 2 cm. Apply a second coat before the first one dries completely.
